Born in Detroit and raised in Lincoln Park, Michigan, Gary Grimshaw (1946–2014) was a unique individual whose career in music-related art spanned nearly fifty years. His innovations with psychedelic art opened doors for other artists and set a standard of excellence for the art community as a whole. He was a focused and dedicated artist and an influence to many, in art and in life.
Gary spent the better part of a decade meticulously restoring pieces from his Grande Ballroom poster collection, as well as creating new first run editions from older work. He was a workingman’s artist, with collectors and admirers from around the world. His use of creative imagination and high quality draftsmanship is seen consistently throughout his body of work. Gary will forever be respected for his art and his ethics by whomever had the pleasure of working with him.
